Coral Reef Champions Project |
|
| Coral Reefs are very important resources for the country. They are breeding grounds of fishes and other marine life and contribute to biodiversity and the livelihood of millions of Filipino fishers. Their continued degradation will have adverse effects not only on these resources but on the fishers themselves. While ISO and several NGOs have tackled this problem through participatory efforts with the local fishing communities, the destruction of coral reefs remain a persistent issue. |
 |
| The Coral Reef Champions project aims to generate support for the fishers by championing the protection of these resources. The project views support in terms of three forms. |
| |
1) Advocacy on CRM issues and concerns through an education campaign.
2) Financial Support from groups and individuals.
3) Technical Support from volunteers to assist in the first two. |
